A Busy Day

I had the builder in this morning doing a survey of what needs doing to my shower room. He was here about half an hour checking things and I got all my questions answered.
It was sometime after 12:30 when I went out to catch the bus into Blackpool town centre. I got off at The Tower so it was just a question of crossing the road and straight into The Albert and The Lion. I had fish and chips with mushy peas and a pint of Doom Bar.
By the time I had eaten that there was just a nice time to walk down to the Winter Gardens, Opera House for the Wurlitzer concert
It is the first time that I have seen Duncan McKenzie play, he is very good but I think most of these organists want a gentle reminder to make them realise that they are now playing in the first half of the 21st-century and not the first half of the 20th. I find a melody of Ivor Novello and Jessie Matthews numbers is a little wearing considering that us younger pensioners went through the swinging 60s and even for those ten years older it was Buddy Holly, Elvis and the like. But it went down very well so perhaps that's just me. To be fair in the last half hours selection we did have a couple of Pet Clarke numbers plus Diamonds Are Forever and Abba’s Mamma Mia. I confess however nearly dozing off during the first half and during the break I went outside for a breath of fresh air to try and wake me up.
Home and then out again around 18:35 to catch the Number 11 bus to Lytham St Annes. I arrived in plenty of time so got off of the bus in St Annes Square and strolled down to the church. In general I felt more relaxed ringing this time.
Raining quite hard when we left off but I walked down to Clifton Drive and thankfully the first bus was an 11 which dropped me off at the Farmers Arms by which time the rain had more or less stopped.
