CAMBRIDGE MIDSUMMER FAIR 25 June 2005

Another fair with stretches back into the past. Held on Midsummer Common every June right by the river Cam and only a short walk from the centre of Cambridge. Never quite as large as the big three at Nottingham, Hull and Newcastle upon Tyne, it used to be as important but to my mind has not had the cooperation from that city as the other three or the other great university city of Oxford come to that. I always get the feeling that there are too many incomers in Cambridge in the high income bracket that would like to be rid of it for good. Being a Cambridge lad, born and breed and growing up there in the fifties and sixties I have a great affection for this fair.

These shots taken in 2005 show it in a better light to what it was when I saw it last which was five or six years ago although I have heard that there have been some improvements since.

Examples of some shots of rides in motion of the sort I like best, movement but you can still see the details and know what the rides are rather than just light patterns.
