KINGS LYNN MART 12 February 2005

Traditionally kicking off the showman’s year, the funfair normally opens on 14 February and did so long before the spate of Valentines Fairs came into being. Held on the Tuesday Market Place a stones throw from the Great Ouse river. The opening is heralded with pomp and ceremony with the mayor of Lynn and those from other parts of East Anglia. The proclamation is read at noon after which the rides spring into life. Not a huge fair but a very historic one and well worth a visit with photo opportunities.
