Haddenham, Cambridgeshire, my home village at the time; driven out of my home town of Cambridge by high housing prices but that’s another story.
One of the villages better points was its annual steam rally, not a big one as rally’s go but always a reasonable turn out of engines and other bygones. I think this may well have been the first time that I saw steam ploughing take place. Two powerful engines at either end of a field pulling a plough across the field between them via a cable wound under the drums under the engines. quite a sight under a pleasant autumn sky.
